Yes, the great Alain Mimoun, he is still a national hero in France, European record holder for the 45-year age-group (30:45?), and actually, seems to be still alive and running in his mid 80s!

The Frenchman was known as Zatopek's Shadow because he always came second...but he had his revenge in Melbourne in 56.

This is one of the most inspirational running videos I know, also because of the final scene with Alain Mimoun! Great is victory, but the friendship is all the greater!
